Number 3, nocturnal twins, kid-sitting, Mitt Romney and glockenspiels

 • • •
Hmm, methinks we listen to a little too much NPR in the car:
"We want a President That takes care of everyone. I don't think mitt Romney likes girls at all"
 • • •
Sophie admonishing the dog while she gets ready for big-girl school:
"No licking, Halley. I don't need to be licked on my first day of VPK!"
 • • •
Sending me hugs over the phone:
"My hugs are all shiny and gold with hearts and green letters on them that say your name."
 • • •
Sophie has some new classmates, a boy and a girl that are twins. She was trying to explain to me why they don't look alike.
"It's because they're nocturnal."
• • •
Mom: "I'll be back in one minute."
Sophie: "That can't be true. You can't be back in ONE minute."
• • •
First time by herself in a public restroom. Joe checks with her after to make sure everything is ok.

Joe: "Did you do number 1 or number 2?"
Sophie: "What's that?"
Joe: "Well, 1 is pee and 2 is poo."
Sophie: "Hmm... well I did number 3."
• • •
"If I grow up, I'm going to wear dresses only, only, only, only. And never, ever, ever ka-sever wear pants. And I'm wearing bows in my hair."
-thoughtful pause-
"But I want to stay just like this."

I told Sophie that when Grandma Linda comes next week, she's going to babysit her one night:
"I'm not a baby, it's kid-sitting."
 • • •
"Mom, if you loose your job, will we have to go live under the bridge?"

Apparently, Sophie and Joe were driving one day and she asked him about the people she saw under the bridge. He told her those people lost their jobs and can't afford their houses anymore.

Sophie makes a drawing, then presents it to me, saying:
"It's an abstract paper. It's when you don't know what it is, but it's still nice. That's what abstract mean, right?"
• • •
Sophie in the backyard, screaming at the birds on the electrical wire:
"Birds! Please come down. I want to have a PLAYDATE! I won't hurt you. I want to help you feed your babies!"
• • •
Forgive me for this, grandmas. I'm only the transcriber!
Sophie: "Mom, do you know why I always ask for more milk?"
Mom: "Why?"
Sophie: "Because I don't want to get the little (pointing to face) lines that my grandmas have."
Mom: "Oh?"
Sophie: "So I drink as much milk as possible." (hugely triumphant smile on her face)

Listening to the radio in the car. 'Somebody I used to know' by Gotye comes on and Sophie says:
"Turn it up. I like it because of the glockenspiel."
