USA Diving Junior Region 3 Championships: Competition Day, 1m!

We just couldn't be prouder of this girl. She competed at regionals in 1m springboard in the 11 & under girls division and rose to the occasion. Most of the competitors were much more experienced (and taller!), but Sophia hung right in there with the big girls. She placed 17th overall among teams from all over Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. She's already got her sights set on advancing to zone for next year! Not bad for an 8-year-old who has only been diving for less than a year. What an amazing spirit. This kiddo is all heart.

Last night Sophie really wanted sushi for dinner. This morning, she really wanted to go visit the Florida State Capitol before afternoon workout. #8goingOn40

When we got to the Senate chambers, Sophie plunked herself down at a desk (one she declared had belonged to a female Senator) and asked for a pen and paper. She then got to work "drafting a bill."
