The debate is on!

Sophie and the five other candidates went head-to-head in the first ever BB International Presidential debate. They traveled room-to-room to deliver their platforms to the little kids, then answered questions for the VPK/Kindergarten students.

Presidential candidates: Sophia, Dallen, Cameron, Bjorn, Emme and Gabriella

VIDEO: Sophie during the debate

Sophie's platform, "I will hug my friends when they are sad."
Campaigning (with blazer and cowboy boots in full effect).
As Ms. Alana says, "kissing babies and shaking hands."
Stickers for her consituents, "Vote for Sophia, a great idea!"
I don't think she liked that question.
The big debate.

Sophia for President.
Results are pending a tally of the votes in math class. But we want to wish all of the candidates the best of luck!

Sophia, the election edition

I took Sophie with me this morning to cover election day.
(I thought she should see it since she, herself, is a candidate).

While we were working, I asked her what her platform will be when she has the chance to talk to her classmates before their "debate" (assuming she makes it through the primary this week). She said, "When I'm President, I will take care of all of my friends, and all of their cats and dogs."

Forgive the poor iPhone photos, we were working people!

And a couple of election-related quotes from the past few weeks:

On our way into a restaurant bathroom, Sophie said, "We don't want to go into that one. The republican bathrooms are the dirty ones."

I was covering the final Presidential Debate at Lynn University. When I called home to say goodnight just before it began, Sophie asked me if I could "say hi to O-rock Obama" for her.

I just love that girl!

Vote for Sophia, a great idea!

Forget that big national election, Sophie is running for school President!

Sophia C. is the one for me!

This is how she went to school today. She handed out stickers to her constituents (the kindergarten class) to begin her campaign. The primary is sometime this week with the general election at the end of the month. Can we get some grassroots organizing going? Do you think it's too much to robo-call 5-year-olds?

Sophia says I want to "BB" your Pres.
(she goes to BB International)
